Report: Real Madrid Fears David Alaba May Not Return to Football

When David Alaba made the move from Bayern Munich to Real Madrid in the summer of 2021, he likely envisioned a bright future filled with success. His first season with Los Blancos was indeed a fairy tale, culminating in a Champions League victory that featured memorable moments, including iconic photos of him celebrating with a chair. However, since then, Alaba’s experience in Madrid has taken a troubling turn.

The Austrian international suffered an ACL injury in early December last year, prompting Bayern Munich to assist him in securing treatment from a leading specialist in cruciate ligament injuries. Unfortunately, recent reports from Spanish outlet Onda Cero suggest that Alaba’s condition may be more serious than initially anticipated.

According to the report, Alaba is experiencing severe pain following training sessions due to diminished cartilage in his knee, resulting in painful bone-on-bone contact. As a consequence, his anticipated return has been pushed back to January 2025, which means he will miss the entire first half of this season.

Concerns About His Future

Real Madrid’s management is reportedly worried that Alaba may not be able to return to football at all. Such a scenario would mark a tragic end to a distinguished career. Alaba has been a pivotal figure at Bayern Munich since his teenage years, contributing to the team’s two treble-winning campaigns and earning a reputation as one of Europe’s top defenders.

The prospect of him retiring prematurely due to injury is a heart-wrenching possibility for fans and players alike, as his talent and contributions to the game are deeply valued. The football community hopes for a positive turnaround in Alaba’s recovery, allowing him to return to the pitch and continue his illustrious career.
