Real Madrid Target Monaco’s Vanderson as Dani Carvajal Replacement

Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on Monaco’s right-back Vanderson as a potential long-term replacement for their veteran defender Dani Carvajal. The 23-year-old Brazilian has been making waves in Ligue 1, showcasing an impressive blend of defensive and attacking prowess since joining Monaco from Gremio in 2022.

Vanderson has become a key figure for Monaco, contributing seven goals and 12 assists in 92 appearances across all competitions. His form during the 2024-25 season has been particularly eye-catching, with one goal and three assists in just eight matches, including two assists in the Champions League. These performances have put him on the radar of multiple European clubs, including Manchester United and Barcelona.

However, Real Madrid are reportedly leading the race for his signature. According to a report from Defensa Central, Madrid’s chief scout Juni Calafat is driving the interest in Vanderson, with the defender possibly being available for a bargain price of €20 million (£16.7 million) next summer. The Madrid hierarchy views Vanderson as the perfect successor to Carvajal, who is currently sidelined for the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury.

While Lucas Vazquez is expected to fill in at right-back until the January transfer window, Real Madrid may opt to secure a short-term solution. Nonetheless, Vanderson’s arrival next summer is seen as part of their long-term strategy.

Interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold Remains

In addition to Vanderson, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has also been a long-term target for Los Blancos. The English international’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire in June, and although negotiations for a renewal are ongoing, Real Madrid continue to monitor the situation closely.

At 26, Alexander-Arnold remains one of the top right-backs in the world, and despite his loyalty to Liverpool, the allure of joining the reigning European champions could still tempt him. However, Liverpool are reportedly optimistic about securing his future at Anfield with a new deal in the coming months.

As Real Madrid look towards the future, the acquisition of a top-quality right-back is clearly a priority. Whether it’s Vanderson, Alexander-Arnold, or both, Los Blancos are keen to ensure they have a solid replacement lined up for Dani Carvajal as they continue their pursuit of silverware both domestically and in Europe.
